MHS NEWS and EVENTS
- Are you having visitors over the break? Going out of town? Last week was our due date for all forms to be turned into the office notifying the school/district of any families who are planning to leave Vermont and/or have visitors from other states for the November break. If your child did not turn this form in, please expect a call this week to confirm plans for the November break. Per Vermont's current guidance, anyone who enters Vermont must quarantine for 14 days without a test and same for those who go out of state. For those students who are attending in person, it is essential that we all work together to ensure we can keep in-person learning a priority. If your child did not turn in a form and you want to communicate your response to us, please let Val Belanger know at valerie@mpsvt.org if your student/family are planning on having visitors or planning to leave the state for the November break. .
- Picture Retake Day has Been Moved: Due to issues with the return of school pictures with LifeTouch, we will not be able to offer retakes this Wednesday, November 18th. We are looking to offer a retake day mid-December and will inform all of the new date when we get confirmation from LifeTouch.
- PSAT for Sophomores and Juniors: On January 26, 2021 MHS will be administering the PSAT in school to all juniors and interested sophomores. The only students attending school on 1/26/21 will be those taking the PSAT since many of the classrooms will be used for testing. The district will cover the cost for juniors; the cost for sophomores is $17.00. Checks for sophomores should be made out to MHS and dropped off at the Guidance Office. For students who are not attending school in person, please send checks by mail.
- To register, please contact Nancy Fitzpatrick, Test Coordinator, by phone (225-8050) or email ( Nancyc@mpsvt.org). The deadline to register is Tuesday, December 1st. Please note that school is closed from November 23-27 for Thanksgiving break.
- The PSAT is great practice for the SAT which is typically taken at the end of junior year and usually again in the fall of senior year. Please read here for additional reasons why taking the PSAT is an important step in college planning. We strongly encourage all juniors to take advantage of this opportunity.
- MHS Virtual Theatre Experiments: Seven teams from Montpelier High School worked hard this fall and finalized projects to share with the community. Many of these projects include original scripts. Anything you can give is wildly appreciated. Please help us share this news! We didn't have a ton of time to advertise the event so anything you can do to share is helpful - FB posts, forwarding this email to family/friends, reminding students at school, etc.In conclusion - secure your tickets for Friday Night's 7pm Masque Theatre production by clicking HERE - and thank you!
- PowerSchool Access and Checking Grades: Have you wondered how to check your student's progress on PowerSchool? Well, this video is a short tutorial on how to access PowerSchool and check on grades. It's a quick one and well worth the watch!

MASK QUALITY: Masks that are single layers are not recommended. Masks need to be 2 layers or more. The disposable masks, otherwise known as surgical masks, do offer a little more protection than cloth masks. Masking only works when we are all masking as a group.
POP UP TESTING:Here is the link for pop up testing. This is for people who are not having symptoms. It looks like they want you to make an appointment instead of walking in, although there seems to be some walk in’s available in certain places. https://www.healthvermont.gov/
