A Solon Salute to the Gender Sexuality Alliance for the second year of the Day of Silence. The Day of Silence is a national event, and the GSA did a great job making the assembly and the week fit our MHS community. Special Kudos to Olliver and Edie for delivering personal speeches about their experiences.

A Solon Salute to Hope Petraro. Hope was selected as one of 20 semi-finalists among more than 1200 applicants for the Yale Bassett Award for Community Engagement. About the award: "By establishing this award, the faculty of Yale's Center for the Study of Race, Indigeneity, and Transnational Migration sought to honor emerging leaders who, like Ebenezer Bassett (1833-1908), distinguished themselves through a record of creative leadership and public service, academic distinction, interdisciplinary problem solving, and experience addressing societal issues." Congratulations Hope!
A Solon Salute to Eleanor Braun, Nadia Scoppettone, Colin Desch and Max Hughes who performed their Senior Solos for the Green Mountain Youth Symphony. We salute your musicianship, dedication and hard work.
A Solon Salute and a hundred thanks to David Dobbs for visiting my Creative Writing classes to talk about his life as a writer. We learned about what a career as a freelance journalist might look like. We loved his stories from the field as well as his wisdom about devising structures for each piece we write. We read his story, “Teenage Brains” in National Geographic in advance of his visit. (From K. McCadden)
A Solon Salute to Sophia Currier for the work in painting a beautiful mural on the our recycling and trash center in the cafeteria. Thanks Sophia!
A Solon Salute to everyone at MHS who supports Unified Sports and the commitment to equity. The Unified Hoops team extends a hearty Salute to all of the Solon Fans (adults and students alike) who came out to cheer the team on this season (thanks!), the National Anthem singers (Wow!), Matt Link for his commitment to promoting equity in athletics, and for two Solon athletes who stepped up this past week to support the Unified Solon hoopsters team - Marshall Donahue and Zach Masure. To all of you, the Unified Sports Basketball team Salutes you. Play Unified!
