Superintendent's Update: October 15, 2020

After talking at length with the Vermont Department of Health this morning, I want to give an update to the community. The DOH has confirmed two positive cases that are isolated within one pod at Union Elementary School. Everyone who is involved with this pod has been notified by Principal Ryan Heraty and will be called by contact tracers within the next 24 hours. The pod will be working virtually for the remainder of the week. We will continue to follow the guidance provided by the Department of Health as we move forward.

Please join me in sending as many positive vibes to our infected community members. They are currently doing well at home and in good spirits.

I recognize that this situation is scary. We and the Department of Health are confident in the protocols, detailed in the MRPS Illness Procedures (https://www.mrpsvt.org/covid19-health-wellness) we have set in place. This infection began outside of our school system. Time and time again this community comes together in moments of hardship to support everyone’s well-being. We need to continue to be vigilant in our safety precautions--always wear a mask, keep safe distance from others, keep kids home when they have any symptoms, and wash your hands often. We can get through this and whatever else comes our way in regards to this illness.

We will continue to pass along information when we can while also maintaining the privacy of our community members. The Department of Health has strict protocols as to what we can and cannot share. We are also following their guidance on when information can be shared. Together we will get through this.

Send any media requests my way.

Thanks,

Libby
