SOLON SALUTES
Just another incredible day at MHS at Owls Head in Groton State Park. These four students, Tyler Ricker, Leo Riby-Williams, Brecken Shea, and Winslow Monde took the trails by bike last week. This is a part of their quarter 1 enrichment course offered by Brian Gallagher and Hilary Goldblatt. Needless to say, these are some pretty good shots in beautiful Vermont during a school day!
MHS NEWS and EVENTS
- Picture Day is THIS Wednesday, October 7th: Please note that this date is on a day when our students will be learning remotely. All students who would like school pictures will enter through the auditorium doors, at their assigned time, with masks. Picture information was sent home via USPS last Monday. Students should share with their TA if they will not be able to make the TA time at 10:15 due to being at school for pictures.
- 7:30-8:15: 12th graders
- 8:15-9:00: 9th graders
- 9:00-9:45: 10th graders
- 9:45-10:30: 11th graders
- Reporting Absences: If a student is absent for a class or for the day, parents/guardians should make sure to call Kim Kidney at MHS 225-8000 (or email kimk@mpsvt.org) to let her know the reason for the student's absence. Otherwise, MHS will mark it as unexcused until we are able to make contact with an adult who provides an excuse that is in accordance with the MRPS District Attendance Policy.
- Transportation Procedures: Please take the time to review our school's Transportation Procedures. As we strive for safety and engagement throughout our entire school system, we recognize that many elements of a student's Solon experience happen off campus for any number of a variety of activities. Many thanks for taking the time to review the transportation procedures and, if appropriate, provide the proper documentation necessary. Contact information for Matt Link and Val Belanger is included in the opening paragraph of the procedure document.
- Voting is extremely important to a healthy democracy but in 2016 only around half of eligible voters in Vermont voted. Even if you are not old enough to vote, you can help! (And you will get a cool mask in the process.) A quick and effective step is to become a Vote Safe VT Ambassador. Contact heathermc@mpsvt.org with any questions.
- MRPS/MHS Chromebooks Issued to Students: We are excited to have had the opportunity to provide every student at MHS with a Chromebook. New this year, students will be transporting their Chromebook home and back to school. We expect students to shut down and charge the device every night. It's critical that students remember to bring the device to school every day. Please help your child with these new routines. Please take a moment to read through the documents to the left and review the expectations with your students.

- MRPS 1:1 FAQ for Families.
- For those students who choose to bring their own technology to school, guardians/students will want to read the MHS Bring Your Own Technology Agreement
Can I still check out books from our library? Yes, you can! Watch this quick slideshow to learn how. Please email Sue Monmaney at susanm@mpsvt.org if you have any questions.
Co-Curricular Clubs/Activities: Please visit our list of co-curricular opportunities that MHS is offering up this year. Some have already started to meet, but it's never too late to join!
