Dear MHS Community,
In an effort to put a face to some of the communication, every so often I will send out a video. Anything shared in the video will also be shared out through text should you choose that route.
Thank you to a large group of students who put forth the time last week to provide our staff with some valuable and thoughtful feedback as we power through a new way of learning. Your feedback is extremely valuable to this process and it's in the hands of our teachers.
We have been provided a directive by Governor Scott to continue with the maintenance of learning up to April 13th. We will more than likely have a different plan as a district and as a school for April 13th and beyond. This is why we've chosen to stay with the current schedule for these two weeks--so we won't have to shift again. More communication about this plan will come in the next week or so.
Although we have a good amount of our students who are accessing their courses and teachers, we also have a decent sized group who is not. We certainly want to put everyone's health and wellness first and that continues to be most important as we move through this time. If your student has not been accessing school at all, please know that teachers or TA's (teacher advisors) will be reaching out to find to check on your student. We certainly want to ensure all is okay and that we can be supportive in whatever way is needed at this time. There is a school wide TA this Friday at 1:00 pm. Your TA has or will be reaching out to you about how to connect up on that day.
As shared in prior communication, I am holding a little bit of hope that we can continue with Prom and Graduation. That may be a pie-in-the-sky dream, but we will figure out something for our Class of 2020 and Graduation. As we get more direction and guidance, we will figure out if we can continue with our current date or whether we will have to come up with an alternative plan. Fingers crossed.
Please continue to take care of yourselves, take care of each other, and the community at large.
Stay healthy.
