Solon Salutes: May 17, 2021

                                              SOLON SALUTES

A Solon Salute goes out to Club Interact who collected goods to go into Spring Gift baskets and handed them out to Westview Meadows retirement community and Gary Home. Check out the Times Argus for a great picture of Louisa Braun delivering the baskets!

A Solon Salute goes out to Alex Brush who organized an art exhibit at Hubbard Park last Friday. The idea came from a grant proposal they wrote to Hershey's Heartwarming Project to create an opportunity for artists who might struggle to get their art seen during the pandemic. Congratulations Alex!

A Solon Salute goes out to the Montpelier Youth Conservation Corps enrichment group (made up of Erin Kelley, Pilar Abele, Jasper Turner, Ethan Borland, Cole Young, Charlie McCaffrey, and Profa) has been having fun and working hard to protect our natural surroundings while enhancing recreational opportunities around the city. So far this quarter we have: helped install 800 ft of deer fencing and prepped 400 ft of garden beds at the Feast Farm (a local farm that grows veggies used in nutritious and delicious meals provided by the Montpelier Senior Center), helped plant 450 seedlings in a riparian buffer zone along the Winooski River, pulled invasives at North Branch River Park, split a cord of firewood to be donated to our neighbors in need.
