Solon Salutes: March 4, 2021

  SOLON SALUTES

Gymnastics will host their senior night meet Friday at 7:30 vs. Harwood! The Solons are 2-1 and will look to build some momentum before the state meet on Saturday the 13th at 12pm.

Girls Basketball has faced some very tough competition this season but the capital city team has stood tall! As the team heads into the last two weeks of the season the Solons are looking to string some W's together. Playoffs will begin the week of March 15th!

JV girls basketball have played very tough teams throughout the season and they have showcased some exciting potential for the future! They will finish out the season next week.

Nordic ski will be competing in their two state meets next week! March 8th the boys will compete at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center. Then on March 10th the girls will take their turns competing at the Outdoor Center. Both teams have very strong lineups to put out there so there should be a lot of good scores coming our way! Good luck, skiers!

Boys V basketball is 6-0 after defeating Hazen this week and will head into the last week of the regular season looking to stay undefeated! Playoffs will begin the week of the 15th.

JV boys basketball had a strong win against Hazen this past week and will look to continue their strong play as they enter their last week of the season.

The U-32 boys ice hockey team (2-3) and the girls ice hockey team at U-32 (1-3) will both enter their last week of the season battling for playoff spots! We have some Solons on each team so good luck to the Solons in blue!

COVID INFORMATION
  • Masks are a Must : Per Superintendent Bonesteel's letter at the start of the school year, masks are required by the State and AOE. Students must wear masks that cover their mouth and nose at all times while on school grounds. Please see our MHS poster that is posted around school.

    HEALTH AND WELLNESS
    • Research shows that well-designed, well-implemented school-based STD prevention programs can significantly reduce sexual risk behaviors among students. Outcomes of such programs include a delay in first sexual intercourse, a decrease in the number of sex partners and an increase in condom or contraceptive use. There is no evidence of increased likelihood of students having sex through participation in such programs. To support preventative health and wellness initiatives for Montpelier High School students, condoms and dental dams along with educational pamphlets will be made available at the school in the following locations: Nurse’s Office, Guidance Offices, Athletic Trainer’s Office, and the Health room. Additionally, condoms will soon be available through a dispenser in the second floor bathrooms. These efforts have been adopted by Montpelier High School and adheres to the VT law that will go into effect July 1, 2021. Please see this VPR article for more information.
