The ATHENA Award® was inspired by the goddess of Greek mythology known for her strength, courage, wisdom and enlightenment-qualities embodied in the ATHENA leadership model. The Award is unique in both scope-local, national and international-and the ATHENA mission upon which it is based. The ATHENA Award® is a nationwide program designed to honor those who are mentoring women in business and helping them strive to attain their highest level of accomplishment and leadership.

- Parent Conferences: Parent conferences will be taking place between November 18-26th which is different from the past. Teachers have opened up varied times to try and allow varied access for parents based on parent schedules. The link to sign up for conferences will opened on Monday, November 4th at 5 am. schools/Montpelier_High_School . If you are having difficulty with this link, you can also go to our district page and scroll down to the bottom to MHS. If you do not have Internet access at a time that is conducive to scheduling, please call the MHS Office at 225-8000 for assistance. Conference sign-ups are only available November 4 - November 13. - Winter Sports Informational meeting for parents and students will be held on November 21st at 7 pm in the gym.

- Solon Samba will be marching in the Veterans' Day Parade this year on Nov. 11 & the Winooski Valley Fall Music Festival is coming up at Harwood Union High School Nov. 21-22 with performances by MHS starting at 7pm Friday, Nov. 22.

- WILD: I (Dave Bennett) am so incredibly proud of all students involved in the WILD program. On this weekend's trip every single one of you showed, incredible respect for each other and all those you came into contact with, environmental stewardship, teamwork and leadership. Your commitment to supporting each other and passion for learning not only allowed for you to be incredibly successful, but also inspired all those you came into contact with! - This is intended to be a safe space for all writers to practice the process of ‘workshopping’ drafts of work into completion. We will read, discuss, reflect and offer input in an environment of respect and mutual trust. There will be options for publication and resources available for support. Drew McNaughton will serve as advisor. He’s a former editor for an online fiction journal, a published writer of short fiction and nonfiction, and holds an MFA in Fiction Writing from the University of Montana. He likes words.

- 6-week after school fitness program for students grades 5-12th at Zenith, Montpelier’s fitness & movement studio is offering a It starts soon, Nov. 7th. Class meets on Thursdays from 3:15-4:15pm at Zenith’s studio, 50 Main Street. Parents may register for the whole 6-week series or pick and choose dates. Our goal is to keep students moving during the fall & winter months.
