ACADEMIC INFORMATION

- MHS WILD (Wilderness Inquiry and Leadership Development) Is an expeditionary wilderness program open to all MHS students. The program is housed within the school and is designed to help students connect more deeply with themselves, each other and the natural environment through shared adventure. Here are some important updates for this year. We will embark on 10 Wilderness trips throughout this year, and all are free of charge to students. These include adventures to the Adirondacks, Green's and White Mountains. WILD Personalized Learning Studies. New this year, students are able to utilize their WILD course of study to fulfill proficiency indicators in Global Citizenship. I will discuss in greater detail at our first meeting. - The fall sports season kicks off TODAY as our girls volleyball team will have their first ever varsity game when they travel to Randolph for their game at 4:30! Follow along with all of our sports by going to the MHS Sports Update.

COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS INFORMATION
- The 4th Annual Montpelier Fall Festival will take place on Sunday, September 29th from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Montpelier High School. Check out the details here: http://www.
montpelierfallfestival.com This is a family-friendly event that is open to the whole community. It includes a one-mile kids’ fun run, a festival with food and games and marketplace. We will continue the tradition of a family friendly kickball tournament.Entrance to the festival is $5 per person or $20 for a family of four. This is the biggest fundraising event of the year and we have a goal of $10,000! All proceeds from the Fall Festival benefit the parent groups at Union Elementary School, Roxbury Village School, Main Street Middle School, and Montpelier High School. Parent group funds are used to support school field trips, student enrichment activities, and teaching materials not covered by the Montpelier school budget. This family friendly, social justice event hosted at Montpelier High School kicks off with a rally at 11am and a 5k starting at 11:30. Running is optional! There will be other highlights at the Rally AgaFirst Days of School Photosinst Racism - including speeches, music, food, several organizations tabling, and art making.
- Social Thinking Introduction for Parents and Professionals Monday, September 9th from 5:30-7:00 in the Hayes Room at the Kellogg Hubbard Library. Come learn about some of the foundational principals of Social Thinking. We will look at strategies to assist children and teens navigate their social worlds. For those parents who attend this information session, they will receive a $50 discount on the Being Social Class for teens offered in the fall.
- Being Social Class for Teens Being Social is an eight-week course for motivated teens that want to build their confidence and skills with social situations. Discussion topics include: deepening friendships, non-verbal communication; school dynamics; social media; and social rules in the work place.
