2017-18: Weeks 33 & 34

A Solon Salute to the MHS/CVCC students who participated in Skills USA recently. On April 4th and 5th, students attending Technical/Career Centers all around Vermont competed. Skills USA is a competition in which students compete against one another in different technical areas. Three Montpelier students won medals this year. Randi Carpenter (Junior) won Bronze in Advertising Design - Graphics, Riley Cook (Senior) won Silver in Firefighting, and Amanda Adams (Senior) took Gold in Advertising Design - Graphics. Amanda, along with other Gold medalists will move on to Kentucky to compete in Nationals where over 6000 students compete in their technical area at the end of June 2018. Congratulations!

A Solon Salute to Mason Ecklund-Gustavson and Heather Swiatocha, who are dedicating their CBL experiences to the care and companionship of the animals at the Central Vermont Humane Society. Mason and Heather have become essential contributors to the team of volunteers who keep CVHS running. And a heartfelt Solon Salute to long-time Community Partner Christina Hayward, Volunteer Coordinator at CVHS, for providing training, mentorship, and opportunities for CBL students to connect and care for animals in need (From Sarah Loveless).

A Solon Salute to UES teachers Mrs. Frey and MJ Jennings for having Logan Graves work in their classrooms this semester for his CBL. They have both provided him with opportunities to be a leader.  Logan expressed an interest in working with younger students, and possibly working one on one as a mentor (from Katrina Phillips).

A Solon Salute to the MHS students who performed in Teen Jazz on Friday, April 13th during the MHS assembly. Your dedication and hard-work was on display. Congratulations on a wonderful performance: Isabelle Francke, Isabelle Banse, Brynn Bushey, Kailea Silvers, Samantha Murray, and Daniel Jestes
