A Solon Salute to the MHS Scholar's Bowl Team who hosted the Green Mountain Regional Scholars' Bowl competition last week. Here is a summary of the event written up by advisor Jerry Tillotson:
- The five teams from Champlain Valley Union may have ruled the Green Mountain Regional Scholars' Bowl competition hosted by MHS last week, but the Solon A team managed a tie for second place going 4-1 on he day winning by a respectable combined total of 320 points. The MHS A team was made up of seasoned veterans Graham Janson, Angus Fraser, Asa Richardson-Skinder, Matt Koucky, and Nathan Grutchfield. Nine of the 16 teams at the regional belonged to MHS and CVU. It was tough competition for the other three teams from MHS, given that fact that having to face CVU teams two or three times was unavoidable. MHS B, Clayton Winters, Henry Valentine, Henry Jones, Omeed Fallahi, and Jackson Markow, all experienced players, went 2-3. First year Scholars' Bowler, Hayden Stumpff, who has participated in two competitions so far displaying great potential, joined veterans Anders Shenholm, Emma Harter, and Cole Bingham, won one round and tied another. And first year team members Aliaya Shannon, Julian Stoler, Josh Golonka, and Faith Bolquez, facing tough competition in their first time out managed to win one round. It was great to have 18 Solons participating in this event. We have a strong core of senior veterans and good roster of novices to build on for the future.
