2016-17: Week 21

A Solon Salute to this crew, who worked together to help poet, activist, and life-long educator Cora Brooks move into her new home during summative re-take week. I know we could all tell by her enthusiasm how much your efforts were appreciated. Cora was amazed by how much we got done so quickly--and was delighted by your good spirit in helping her. Many hands do, indeed, make light work. Thanks Solons! Matt McLane, Hope Petraro, Randi Carpenter, Matt Koucky, Callie-Lyn Dalley, Zak Grupp, Isaac Maddox-White, Nick Colwell. (from Kerrin McCadden). And a Salute to Kerrin for helping us get this helping opportunity together.

A Solon Salute to the alumni that agreed to come back and speak at Wednesday night's school board meeting. We appreciate hearing from you and thank you for your generosity in spending the evening helping us learn more about how to best serve our students and families. Thank you Leah Jones-Class of 1997, Rylee Field-Class of 2010, Garrett Graff-Class of 1999, Stirling Peebles-Class of 2003, Dariah Messina-Class of 2016, Naomi Pitt-Class of 2016, Emily Montague-Class of 2016. Announcements:
  • Blood Drive: On January 27th (this Friday), MHS will be hosting a blood drive in our gym from 10:00 to 3:00. It is a great opportunity to give something you have, that others are in great need of. If you would like to make an appointment, just reply to this email and I will write your name down, so you won’t have to wait as long on Friday. Also, on the day of the drive, if you are planning to give blood, I would recommend that you use “Rapid Pass” which is a way to start the donation process before leaving home by completing an online pre-donation and health history questionnaire. This will save you time at your appointment. Click here to reach the website.

  • To donate, you must be at least 16 years old. If you are a 16 year old, your parent or guardian must complete the form attached. If you are not 16 yet, encourage your parents or friends to donate. If you donate, you will also receive a Dunkin Donuts gift card. Spread the word! (Hosted by Student Council)
