2016-17: Week 3

Announcements:

Week 3 will be a very busy at MHS! This week is Homecoming, our Open House, and our annual club fair. Below are the details for the upcoming week, as well as the salutes from last week.  


HOMECOMING WEEK



Monday: Solon Swag Day
Tuesday: Twin Day
Wednesday: VT Day
Thursday: Crazy Hair/USA Day
Friday: Class Colors 9th (gold), 10th (green), 11th (white), 12th (black)
Friday: Field Hockey 6pm, followed by BONFIRE
Saturday: JV Boys Soccer-11am, V Boys Soccer-1pm, JV Girls 3pm, V Girls 5pm
Saturday: Homecoming Dance 8pm-11pm 
 & Door prizes will be given away randomly between classes all week (all students are eligible).

The Boosters will be selling baked goods and snacks on Friday evening and all day on Saturday. Any parents who would like to contribute baked goods can contact tamelabrowning@gmail.com for more info

On Tuesday morning, we will have our annual club fair in the auditorium. Each club with have a minute or two to describe their club. Sign ups will be made available to all students in the hallway throughout the week. Adjusted Schedule for Tuesday, Sept. 20th: Club Fair 

On Thursday evening, please join us for the 2016-17 MHS Open House, September 22nd: 6:30-8:30pm. Mr. McRaith will greet attending families in the auditorium with a short overview of the year's goals, we will have the chance to follow student schedules and enjoy light refreshments and the music of our jazz band in the cafeteria. The Boosters will be selling popcorn and taking spirit wear orders (cash, credit, and checks accepted). 

A Solon Salute to Nathan Grutchfield who helped The Bridge build a youth edition this summer, called The Breeze. To view the articles by Nathan and others: Click here. We salute you Nathan. 

A Solon Salute to Kerrin McCadden and the creative writing class who participated in a day-long master class/workshop at Shelburne Farms with poet Naomi Shihab Nye, hosted by Sundog Poetry. A special salute to Rachel Sucher, Lila Stratton (pictured), & Helen Cerutti who read their poetry at the event. 


A Solon Salute to Barb Austin-Hutchins and the art classes who once again turned the trash from this year's river clean up into sculpture art. Here are a few photos of the art and artists.

PowerSchool: As we get further along into our new grading system, a number of students have been asking, "Where are my grades?" We've provided this short video to provide a screen-cast guide to accessing your grades.
