Week 39


A Solon Salute to everyone involved with this year's Art Show. It was a beautiful night, filled with art, fashion, excitement, and music! A salute to Red Clay and their teacher, Mr. Kirk Kreiz. And who can forget the glowing dress and amazing work of Ms. Barb Austin-Hustins. You're all amazing! A big thanks to the Clean Team for once again being so helpful in making this kind of special event happen at MHS.

A Solon Salute to our geometry students as they used trigonometry it measure heights of objects indirectly - and learn just how difficult it can be to make accurate measurements in the "real" world. (From Ms. Abrams).

A Solon Salute to William Carrigan, with Securities and Enforcement at the State of Vermont, shared the latest about recent Ponzi schemes in Vermont with students enrolled in Financial Literacy, AP Statistic, and AP Calculus; and he gave our students ideas for preventing identity theft and getting credit after high school. We are VERY appreciative of our community volunteers! (From Ms. Sue Abrams).

A Solon Salute to Newton Baker for getting MHS out to the track last Thursday to run or walk a mile. A salute to Mr. Parker as well for making the hand-made buttons to hand out to the finishers.


A Solon Salute to the Girls' LAX team who defeated the JV Lamoille team 11-6 on Monday and finished their season with a 6-2 winning record. Congratulations!

A Solon Salute for Boys' Baseball Team who won again last week...

A Solon Salute to the Boys' LAX team. They played a tough game against Lamoille but fell 9-8.  Rory Hynes scored three goals against Lamoille to lead the Solons. Playoffs start this week. 

A Solon Salute to the Girls' Tennis Team. They finished the year 7-6 and won their first playoff round against U-32. They match up against Woodstock in the next round on Tuesday. Good luck!

A Solon Salute to the Boys Tennis Team. They finished the year 8-4. Congratulations on a great year.

A Solon Salute to the MHS Track Team. They will be at the state meet next weekend on June 4. A lot of our athletes have qualified and we are expecting a strong showing!

A Solon Salute and good luck to the Golf Team. They have their sectional playoffs on May 31st at Champlain CC. If they perform well there they will qualify for the States which will be held on June 8th in Middlebury.
