Week 10

A Solon Salute to the Boys Cross Country Team. Division II State Champions! We salute you!!

  • A Solon Salute to Maggie Nowlan for her work with CBL, teaching about sustainable business practices in schools around the state.  Here is an excerpt from the email I received from Mr. Matt McLane regarding Maggie's recent work:
"This semester Maggie is taking her inspired knowledge and deeper understanding of Vermont's socially responsible business culture and practices and engaging others in it. Maggie has developed a B-Corporation and Socially Responsible Business Seminar Class that she is teaching to a large number of Vermont high school business/economic classes."

This has already included students at Spaulding High School and all Burlington High School seniors. Maggie this is incredible! We salute you!
  • A Solon Salute to Girl's Soccer Team. We are proud of the hard work and sportsmanship you showed this year. Congratulations on a great season!
  • A Solon Salute to all of staff and students who attended the Rowland Annual Conference on Thursday. Mr. Sabo, Isabelle Boutin, and Meredith Stetter made MHS proud as they presented workshops for this statewide conference. A special Solon Salute to MPS director of Curriculum and Technology, Mike Martin who filled in for the keynote's seminars, because the keynote speaker was stuck in Washington DC. We salute you!

  • A Solon Salute to Betty Hammond and her staff for such a delicious Fall Harvest Celebration meal. And another salute to Tom Allen and his staff for helping with the set-up and break down of the event. It wouldn't happen without them.  #aboveandbeyond -Mr. Sabo

  • A Solon Salute to Rhiannon Cheseaux for all her help Friday morning helping the food committee set up tables & move things to the gym. She’s also a great person to have around for quality control.  -FHC teammates
  • A Solon Salute to Everyone at MHS. What a fantastic example of community, learning, and celebration during Fall Harvest Celebration. There was an amazing amount of thought and work that went into the day from the adults. The students responded with respect, incredible performances, integrity, positive energy, ideas, a supportive spirit, collaboration, and an all around good time. This kind of day would not be possible without trust between both students and adults. As Isaac Mears would say, "That was pretty good." Congratulations on a very successful 7th (43rd?) annual Fall Harvest Celebration. There are more great photos than I can post, but Mrs. Monmaney has created this *storify of the #mhsfhc on twitte & instagram*. Here are a few of my favorites!

  • A Solon Salute to the Espanol Students who harvested the potatoes that they planted last spring and made some muy delicious tortilla espanola. -Profe
