2018-19: Week 10

A Solon Salute to the MHS Girls' Soccer Team. The Girls' advanced in the playoffs this week by beating Fair Haven on Tuesday. On Friday night they took on U-32 and gave their all in a 2-1 double-overtime loss. Congrats on a great season! (View video for highlights)

A Solon Salute to the MHS Boys' Soccer Team. The team finished their season in exciting and dramatic fashion when they pushed U-32 into a overtime penalty-kick shootout. U-32 advanced in the playoffs after the narrow 5-4 on penalty kicks victory. Congratulations on the season!

A Solon Salute to the MHS Cross-Country Team who had their final run this past Saturday. Congratulations on a great season and the effort in the rain and snow this weekend!

A Solon Salute to Mandy Abu Aziz, MaryAnn Songhurst, and Hope Petraro who represented the Racial Justice Alliance as presenters during the recent Annual Rowland Conference at UVM. These members presented to around 50 educators and students from around the state. Well done! Follow the RJA @mhs.rja on instagram.

A Solon Salute to senior Lily Fournier who was recently featured in episode number 3 of the #findyourpurpose series. The series is put together by Curriculum and Technology Director, Mike Berry, and highlights the different flexible pathways for students to engage in.

A Solon Salute to the folks at Forget Me Not Flowers in Barre for spreading flower cheer throughout our school district on Wednesday. In an effort called, pedal-it-forward, their team members brought more than twenty bouquets of flowers that were shared throughout our building, just because. Thank you!

A Solon Salute to MHS students Jenna Robinson, Jaeden Jagemann, Sophia Robins, Bob Powell and MHS staff Nolan Benoit and Katrina Phillips for volunteering their time last week to help with the 29th Annual Karen Kitzmiller Coat Drive. This annual event provides important (free) clothing resources to Vermonters in need of warm winter clothing.

A Solon Salute to Dominique Savard for finishing up her Extended Learning Opportunity reflection from last spring semester. Dominique took the time to organize the evidence that was necessary for her to demonstrate her proficiency abilities and understandings of the Reflection indicator in the Problem Solving LE. Here is a link to her slide show. Extended Learning Opportunities are fantastic ways for students to have voice and choice in the types of activities that they want to use to demonstrate their abilities in our school Learning Expectation graduation requirements. Great job Dominique.

A Solon Salute and a big thank you to Mr. Miles for helping the Field Hockey team honor their seniors on senior night with little wooden field hockey sticks! (From the Field Hockey Team). And congrats to the field hockey team on finishing up their season too!

A Solon Salute to the MHS QSA. They hosted their first movie night of the year on Friday. They watched a short documentary about five queer Asians navigating the intersections of identity and family, and then watched the feature "Love, Simon." Special thanks to Ms. Waring and Amanda Payne for chaperoning - we're so glad you're part of our MHS community!
