2017-18: Week 36

A Solon Salute to Barb Austin-Hutchins and the Prom Committee for hosting a wonderful evening on Saturday night. There is a lot of work that goes into planning, organizing and decorating for prom. You did a great job and we salute you!

A Solon Salute to all of our Food Service Team. They work very hard each day to serve our healthy lunches. May 4th was School Lunch Hero Day. Check out this Ted Talk to learn more. Be sure to thank our team when you see them!

A Solon Salute this week to Logan Graves who completed his independent study learning AutoCAD 2D (a two-dimensional computer-aided design program). Logan presented his learning and drawings on Thursday, explaining his processes, challenges, and the increasing complexity of his work over time. Precision, Persistence, Problem Solving, and Communication LEs were clearly evident from Logan’s exhibition. Great work, Logan! We salute you and look forward to the unfolding of your AutoCAD 3D experience.

A Solon Salute to Ms. Chabot, Lily Fournier, Amelia Wrigley, Isabelle Boutin, Eleanor Braun, Danny Bruce and Truman Lee Solomon who traveled to Science Day hosted by the Dartmouth College graduate science program last Saturday. They experienced interactive neuroscience stations, used bacteria to instantly freeze water, and chatted with graduate students about their research. What a great opportunity!

A Solon Salute to Grace Carlomagno and Liam Mears for their participation as members of the social justice band SoundCheck, featured on VPR Friday, April 27th. Listen up to SoundCheck's "new generation of protest songs," and listen here for the VPR clip. We salute you, Grace and Liam! SoundCheck on VPR 4/27/2018

A Solon Salute to Matias Masi and Rory Hynes for their recent work making pizza sauce from MHS grown ingredients for the MHS pizza kiln.

A Solon Salute this week to Grace Carlomagno for having her composition selected for performance, for the second year! Opus 33 was held on Monday, April 30th at Elley-Long Music Center at St. Michael’s College in Colchester. Professional composer mentors review student works, vote on “best for live performance,” then guide each student in score preparation. Please take a look and listen to “Another Day” here. Come dici che la musica e vita, Grace! Saluto di Solone! (From Ms. DiLena)
